FAQs
How do Anti wrinkle injections work?
Miniscule amounts of Botox are injected into the relevant areas of the face. Most commonly these include lines around the outer eye, between the eyes and the forehead.
Botox treatment relaxes and lifts the muscle, softening the look of lines and giving a tighter, smoother appearance.
What are the common side effects?
Small red bumps and redness may appear around the injection area immediately after treatment. Other side effects including bruising are less common.
There is minimal discomfort during the procedure
What will happen during my anti wrinkle treatment?
Botox is a very quick procedure, and will only take a couple of minutes
Prior to your treatment we will have a consultation about what you hopes are and we will make a plan regarding your treatment together. My aim to to always listen closely to clients and ensure they are really happy with the outcome.
You will then be made comfortable lying down, and the Botox will be injected via very fine needles in miniscule amounts.
Is Botox right for me?
Anti wrinkle injections are suitable for anyone with early signs of ageing. Patients must be over 18. And they are not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
If you have further questions about this treatment and how it could work for you please do not hesitate to contact us.

Dermal fillers
Dermal fillers are an injectable treatment used to lift and plump the face. They are used to provide volume and contour your face, helping achieve a more youthful complexion by softening mild to deep wrinkles.
They provide natural-looking results and are most commonly used to rejuvenate facial areas including the cheeks, lips, jawline, mouth, neck and décolletage.
They act by boosting the skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid and stimulate the growth of collagen. Similarly to botox injections they are not permanent, and need repeating.

UNLIKE DERMAL FILLERS, A NEW WAVE OF INJECTABLES, INCLUDING PROFHILO AND NUCELOFILL, PROMISE TO WORK ON THE CONDITION OF THE SKIN. RATHER THAN ADDING VOLUME, THESE TREATMENTS IMPROVE SKIN HYDRATION, FIRMNESS, AND LUMINOSITY THROUGH MICRO-INJECTIONS OF A SOFT GEL-LIKE SUBSTANCE. PROFHILO IS COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS AN INJECTABLE MOISTURISER AS IT CONTAINS PURE HYALURONIC ACID IN HIGH QUANTITIES TO BIO-REMODEL COLLAGEN AND ELASTIN WHILST HYDRATING THE SKIN. NUCLEOFILL, ON THE OTHER HAND, IS MADE UP OF POLY-NUCLEOTIDES (FRAGMENTS OF MOLECULES THAT MAKE UP DNA), WHICH BOOST SKIN QUALITY, HYDRATION AND THICKEN THE TISSUE
While Profhilo may have been a big beauty buzzword last year, Nucleofill is certainly starting to cause a stir in clinics across the country, as people want to find out more about its impressive qualities. Here, we explain the key differences between the two treatments.
WHAT IS PROFHILO?
Profhilo is made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a potent moisturising factor naturally found in skin, muscle, and joints. Its ability to draw 1000 times its own weight in water into the skin makes it ideal for binding and retaining water molecules, hydrating the skin from within to leave it fresh and radiant.
We all naturally produce and break down hyaluronic acid every day, but as we age, the process gets a little sluggish. Profhilo is injected at 5 points on each side of the face and spreads evenly throughout the layers of the skin drawing water along the way. This approach plumps the skin and diminishes fine lines and wrinkles whilst boosting the skin’s radiance and dewiness – delivering a long-lasting serum-type effect, but without the serum. A Profhilo treatment consists of two treatments spaced four to six weeks apart and the results will last for approximately six months.
WHAT IS NUCLEOFILL?
At Illuminate Skin Clinic, we believe in skin improvement and the most natural results. Nucleofill is a relatively new bio-stimulator for skin rejuvenation and protection. As an anti-ageing treatment, it is designed to help cells retain water, improve skin elasticity and tightness, and aid in the prevention of wrinkles. Unlike Profhilo, Nucleofill offers various products for specific concerns and, as well as skin regeneration, there are also options for the neck, eyes, and even the scalp to stimulate hair growth.
WHAT ARE THE KEY DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PROFHILO AND NUCLEOFILL?
The way in which Nucleofill differs from familiar injectables such as Profhilo is that it’s a bio-stimulant gel, rather than hyaluronic acid. Yet it still does the all-important job of stimulating fibroblasts – the major cells responsible for the production of collagen. Nucleofill directly stimulates specific receptors on the fibroblast cells and produces the healthy collagen that we have in our youth. While both treatments are highly effective, they each have their own ideal candidate. Nucleofill is fantastic for the more mature age group as it regenerates sagging and dehydrated skin and thickens the tissues. It also lasts longer than Profhilo – up to a year after two treatments.
WHICH TREATMENT IS RIGHT FOR YOU?
Ultimately the decision depends on your concerns and your treatment goals. The effect of Profhilo is largely glow-giving. Richly hydrating the skin changes its light-reflecting properties, giving your complexion a radiance that no highlighter can match.
Nucleofill is used for patients who are concerned with fine lines and wrinkles and loss of elasticity on the face or neck. Nucleofill treats various indications, making it a good option for under-eye crepiness, wrinkles, and hollows. We can combine these treatments if desired, or use just the one.
